Store to Abode Fridays #8 - feed sacks

For Store to Abode Fridays, we like to take one item from the store as inspiration and show you how to decorate with it.  Today it's all about feed sacks!

In the past, feed sacks were reused for practically everything - dresses, curtains, shirts, quilts....to underwear!

Here are some of our favorite ideas for reusing these gorgeous utilitarian fabrics.




Here is my inspiration piece from The Old Lucketts Store.  We always try to scoop up old feed sacks and grain sacks in our travels.

And here are some fun ways to use feed sacks and grain sacks in your decor!

{1} One of my all time favorite feed sack upholstery jobs by Miss Mustard Seed.  Marian actually let us use this photo last year to publicize our Spring Market {which is May 19 & 20 this year} and it made it the cover of the local paper!

{2}  Get out your sewing machine.  Feed sack fabrics can be easily made into fabulous pillows.

{3}  Love these grain sack upholstered chairs and a wonderful runner.

{4}  If you have enough grain sack material, why not make a messenger bag to carry library books or your laptop?
