Today is our one year blog birthday! It's been a terrific year filled with beauty, fun and friendship. As a gift to our readers here is a recipe for the most yummy cake you'll ever make. The secret I think is in the separating the eggs and beating the egg whites. The cake is moist and delicious and works for any occasion. It's a great party cake and was given to me by a wonderful friend whose mother put together a cook book of Atlanta recipes (in 1975) - called Atlanta Natives' Favorite Recipes. The recipe came from Mrs. Samuel Barnett (Dorothy Willett).

Sour Cream Cake
2 sticks butter
3 cups sugar
6 eggs, separated
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup sour cream
3 cups plain sifted flour
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks, one a time, beating well after each addition. Mix soda into sour cream. Add flour, alternating with sour cream. Add flavoring. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into well greased and floured bundt pan. Bake one and a half hours (90 minutes) at 300 degrees.
Enjoy!
