The Lucketts Spring Market welcomes back Ekster Antiques!

We'd like to welcome back Ekster Antiques to our May 18 & 19 Spring Market!

Caroline always brings wonderful pieces, and her tent is always a showstopper!

Here are a few pictures from the Ekster tent at the 2012 Lucketts Spring Market.
This year, Caroline will be bringing similar-style furniture and decorations, both from the USA and Europe, and the overall theme in her tent is going to be somewhat neo-classical, with some architectural elements and an Empire-inspired style.

Caroline has been hunting and gathering for months in the US and abroad.  She said she is really excited about how it will all come together.

Caroline's tent always has a few table settings.  This one last year was a show stopper.  I love how the braided twigs hang right above this super-long farm table!

What a great patina on this bench from last year's Spring Market!

Caroline always finds unique pieces for her tent, like this wonderful candle holder.

Ekster Antiques will be in the "Fields of Gold" section of the Lucketts Spring Market.  You can find more information about Caroline on her website and her Facebook page.

Interior Decoration Minimalist Apartment

Interior Decoration  Moving is tough! I know I've been gone for a while, but I've been moving into our new apartment. We didn't bring everything we own, since this will only be a temporary place. Still, it takes a lot of time! The minimalist in me wishes I could get rid of all possessions, except the most basic of furnishings...and some art of course. I came across this German apartment and was

What's new in the shop and online...

We have a lot going on these last few days and moving in to May.  May is shaping up to be quite a month, with a Design House, wedding reception, a new baby, and Heather's own big baby --- our Annual Lucketts Spring Market!

With everything going on, we still had some time to bring some new items in to the shop and order for the online store.

Here are our new finds for the week...

We just got in the cutest apothecary cabinet in the online store.  We adore the French words and cross on the glass!  This cabinet is available for $125 from our online store.

These just arrived this week.  Our bull busts are back in online for $85!  What a statement for a kitchen or bar area.  The grey wash finish on these is spectacular.

Our driftwood trays have been super-popular in The Design House and now we have them online too!  For the May Design House, we'll be featuring a new turquoise room for a beachy feel.  These trays are made from natural driftwood and measure 22" x 16" (no two are exactly alike!)

And now for some newbies in our Leesburg store!

On the third floor, we have  This handmade tool chest cabinet is $85 firm and the handmade console is $165 firm from dealer DLW.

This great storage cabinet has some great French typography.  We love the raw wood too!  This piece is on the main floor for $595.

We got a new farm table in this week.  We especially love the blue / green base color on the legs.

We love all things industrial.  This week Pat brought in an industrial cart, which looks great with these old boxes and suitcases.

For more information about the finds pictured here or more pics of new items this week, please check out our Fresh Off the Wagon page, which is updated with pictures and prices weekly.

One of our blog readers asked for a few more pictures of the industrial bins peeking out on the right side of this picture from last week:

Here they are!  This clever glasses display was the brainchild of our dealer, Jennifer on the first floor.  She took old chicken nest boxes and hung them on the wall to store her eye glasses.

Each style has its own cubby!

How cute!

Don't forget, The Design House will be open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 3, 4 &5)!

Amy, lead designer at The Design House, will be taking your questions on Saturday May 4th between 2-5 and Sunday from 10-1!  Bring photos of the area you need help with and we'll give you our two cents.

Even busier...

Yesterday, we gave you a sneak peek of what Amy has planned for the May 3, 4 & 5 Design House - her very own advice booth!

May is going to be a crazy month and we're all going to be busy, busy, busy.

We'll be squeezing in Amy's advice booth along with a wedding reception, the Spring Market, a new baby, and a new puppy.

Piece of cake, right?

Busy Number 2 - Lucketts does a wedding!
Our beautiful Gina…who had been with us since she was 11 years old slipped off and got married last September in a small private ceremony on the beach…we always said when she married we wanted to decorate her wedding …instead we will be decorating her massive “I Do” barbeque, so all of her friends and relatives will be able to celebrate her marriage.  Thank you Gina for planning that right in between the Design House and the Spring Market… but hey,we are the masters of pulling off events ..so we got this!

Decor for Gina's reception
For all of you brides to be out there…we just started thinking about this last Monday, and the reception will be May 11…NO STRESS WHATSOEVER!

The event is an informal barbeque with 250 guests there will be 25 tables of ten, a DJ,  a dance floor and the buffet table under the tent. As we have learned with our events over the years …“prepare for the worst and hope for the best” as far as the weather goes.. so all of the pertinent stuff needs to be under the tent.

We decided to go ahead and get the tables covered with the inexpensive rented white tablecloths to basically make the folding tables “go away”.  We purchased a large amount of the soft burlap that we will cut into squares to create toppers for all of the tables, and create a more textural feel to the scene…we want it to be “country” but not hillbilly…  Pit beef guy meets Design House…oh we got this!!!

Since each table is 5’ across we wanted a decent centerpiece but not one that will block the view of fellow diners…so we are going with a galvanized tub with 3 different varieties of fern nestled in excelsior.  The ferns will create a nice airy texture, and a garden feel to the interior of the tent.

Each table will have 6 floating votives for a candlelit effect without having to go into tapers, and holders.

The great news about the ferns versus floral arrangements is as they will need to be assembled, it will be much simpler, and they can be planted when the event is over.  All utensils will be wrapped in the napkin and tied in twine, baskets of utensils will be found at each table and at the food table.

Chalkboards will announce….WE DID!

Hay bales will be placed around the yard, and will be topped by cushions…..for additional seating..

Pillars topped with ferns will ring the dance floor.. Did we forget anything? Oh of course…kegs of beer…will be served in ball jars.  Super cute… inexpensive…and a great time will be had by all!
Lucketts Spring Market is 5/18 & 5/19 this year

Busy Number 3 -What else do we have going on in May?

Oh that's right…  SPRING MARKET is MAY 18-19.   Seriously, we don’t play…

This is the mother of all events…when we actually share our world with other antique vendors from all over the country…

We love love love our customers, and we don’t like to share…but just once a year we open up the floodgates.. and what an amazing event that makes..

The best customers in the world meet the best antique dealers we can find…alrighty then, it's a beautiful thing… but what does that look like for us?   Well, lets just say Heather hasn't slept since last October..  And once again, a great time will be had by all

Just plain crazy...

What else can we squeeze in?

Well Casey will be having her baby any time now...(I see a new furniture mover in training)

Amy’s puppy Stewy is turning into a bona fide monster and meet Josie!  Wyatt just added a new puppy to our ever growing dog family..

Congrats Casey!  Less than two weeks to go!

Amy's puppy Stewy is moving out of the puppy category and officially in to the horse category
 Wyatt's new puppy, Josie

JUNE….We rest, and smile back on our kooky May

Busy busy busy…

Busy, Busy, Busy...

Lucketts has a big big month coming up, so I thought I would fill you in on some of the highlights…

Busy Number 1 - The May Design House, sneaking right up on us May 3-4-5.

The usual span of emotions for our monthly Design House looks something like this..

Amy's Advice Booth a la The Peanuts
  1. “We have plenty of time…this should be no problem”
  2. “Oh crap, does anybody have a plan?”
  3. “Are we seriously going to do this whole house over again?”
  4. “All right get out the paint”
  5. “We don't have enough time…we’re screwed”
  6. “I don’t feel so good”
  7. Magic pixie dust drops out of the sky…all of the items we need landed, and the house is beautiful.
We are currently in stage five of that process…so everybody keep your fingers crossed.

This month, We will feature our very own Amy Whyte, the lead decorator at the Design House, to answer any design questions you may have about your own house. You can bring photos of trouble areas you may have, and we will do our best to help you out.

If you're not local for the Design House Event next weekend, Amy can still help you with your decorating dilemmas (see below).  Send us your questions (as a comment in this post, on facebook, or email us) and we'll answer them in our "Letters to Lucketts" blog series.

Our busy month isn't even close to over, we have a wedding reception, a baby, the Spring Market, and some new additions to the Lucketts family, but more about those tomorrow...

More Spring Market Sneak Peeks!

Photo:  The Sports Guy
More sneak peeks from a few of our favorite Spring Market vendors!

We are so pleased with the talent we have coming this year on May 18 & 19.  Some of the vendors we are featuring today have been exhibitors at the Country Living Fair, and featured on the Nate Berkus Show and Apartment Therapy.

These booths will be bringing vintage linens and textiles, sports memorabilia, jewelry made from vintage findings, furniture, and unique antique accent pieces to the Fair this year.

Let's see what they are bringing!

We'd like to welcome back Sew What, which hails from Mifflintown, Pennsylvania.  They have oodles of linens, textiles, quilts and handmade rugs.  They'll also be bringing lots of vintage treasures to help decorate your life.

I'm sure the men will be flocking to this tent!  The Sports Guy will be bringing us vintage sports items and memorabilia from baseball to lacrosse.   Both Sew What & The Sports Guy are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones in The Field of Gold section of the Lucketts Spring Market.

Findings at Summerhouse is always a crowd favorite.  Joanna was a past exhibitor at The Country Living Fair, and we are so excited to have her back!  Expect lovely one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces and wonderful vintage odds and ends at this tent.  She always has such beautiful displays too!

Deborah from Mr. P's Emporium, will be joining us again this year for the Lucketts Spring Market.  Deborah is from Fairfax Station, Virginia and her shop is located in Manassas, Virginia.  Mr. P's brings us refreshed vintage pieces that will add a unique and beautiful touch to your décor.  All of her pieces are hand painted and waxed, and a portion of the proceeds from Mr. P's goes to help animal rescue groups.

Kathy, the owner of Vignettes, is thrilled to be a first-time vendor at the Lucketts Spring Market this year.  She's actually been shopping at Lucketts since it opened, and met Suzanne for the first time when she was in denim coveralls, on her hands and knees painting a checkerboard onto the shop floor.

Some of Kathy's "design experiments", as she likes to call them, have been featured on the Nate Berkus Show and Apartment Therapy, wow!  Kathy describes her style as eclectic with a twist.  She loves to find unique vintage items and update them for today's look.  Here are some finds she is bringing to the Spring Market this year...
