Deep breath...

The Holiday Open House weekend is now over and everyone is recovering...taking a deep breath and exhaling...

Besides the obvious benefits of hosting a Holiday Open House, like getting the satisfaction of seeing months of hard work finally come together into beautiful room displays, and meeting and chatting with lots of new & old customers alike, there are some not so obvious benefits too...

What few people really know is that thanks to the Open House, no one needs to go to the gym this week.  We now have nicely toned biceps from hauling jugs of apple cider and canned good donations all weekend, not to mention the added cardio from running upstairs to answer questions or get a price.  Another huge benefit is all that glitter.  This weekend the girls proved just how easy it is to channel your inner pop star when you come home with glitter on your face, hands, and all stuck in your hair.

Here were a few pics from the weekend at The Old Lucketts Store...

{ l to r:  1. giant cloches, mercury glass votives, moss covered balls; 2. giant natural pine cones;  3. sheet music wreaths and ornaments;  4. vintage Christmas balls;  5. delicious smelling soy candles }

...and at The Design House...

{ l to r:  1. furniture with gold accents; 2. icy and snow covered treasures; 3. fur hats and ear warmers;  4. Hoo doesn't love an owl accessory?;  5. garlands of natural greenery with pine cones }

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the weekend, and especially to those who graciously donated canned goods or money to Loudoun Interfaith Relief.  Your donations will help make the holidays a little brighter for some local families.   Heather is tallying up the donations today and is going to get grocery cards with any cash donations we received.

What's next for us?  Over the next few weeks,  we'll be getting ready for our next Design House event on December 2, 3 & 4.  Amy & Suzanne will be dissecting how they decorate a Christmas tree and sharing that on our blog.  We'll be hosting a book signing for Dinah Corley's new book featuring recipes for gourmet gifts at our next Design House.  We're also finalizing logistics of a "Lucketts at Night" night where customers can see the shop all decorated and lit up at night; the shop really takes on a different aura lit up with holiday lights.  Until then a deep breath...
