This weekend Amy and I were off to one of our favorite auctions on the East Coast.
The weekends are always full of fun, but also a lot of hard work. What do we look for during a typical trip:
- We always try to find pieces that make an impact when you come into the store. A gigantic Christmas sleigh, large architectural salvage, even animals ( I am sure you all remember the Wilda beast that sits above the store counter).
- Items that you do not see every day and put a smile on our faces. This weekend I couldn't resist the one man band below that is now on the front porch:
- Then there are the smaller items, what we like to call the goodies. Crystal, silver, prints, frames, anything that we feel can add "Vintage Hip" to your home.
- When it comes to furniture, we look for everything. It could be a typical wing back chair or a curvy french sofa that just needs someone to take it home and give it a little TLC.
Auction finds being unloaded at Lucketts. |
We are typically exhausted by the end of the day. We will wait hours for the perfect item and sift through dozens of boxes to find a single thing to take home. Then we have to load the trucks, pay for our finds and get it hauled back to Virginia. Since all of that can't be done in one day, we reward ourselves by staying in the same hotel every trip. Being that it is wedding season, Amy and I like to sit on the back porch, watch the ceremony and listen to the party music while drinking Bloody Mary's. We get a kick out of it every time!
Stop by Luckett's Store and pick out your own auction piece!
Don't forget we have a giveaway running now through Sunday, June 10th, on our blog. Click here to read about it an enter!
