Store to Abode Fridays # 20 - milk paint

Store to Abode Fridays is all about taking something we sell at The Old Lucketts Store or our Design House and showing you how to decorate with it.

We got word today that our supply of milk paint will be at The Old Lucketts Store on Thursday, August 30th!

So here was the inspiration item for this week:

Customers ask us what they can do with the paint, what is the "look" they'll get with the paint, etc.  Below are some finished pieces to give you a few ideas.  Of course, you should also head over to Marian's blog, for tons of information on her new milk paint, how to use it, examples of finished projects, and of course, her video tutorials.

{1}  In general, you don't need a lot of milk paint for a project, and this project is no exception.    Martha Stewart revamped some old terra cotta pots with milk paint --- love the bright greens against these grey pots with a rope detail.

{2}  Can you believe this was a plain white dresser before milk paint and antiquing glaze was applied?

{3}  Milk paint isn't just for furniture.  Milk paint was applied to the ceilings, beams and floors in this farmhouse / industrial space, turned bedroom {not sure I'd want that hook above my bed while I slept though!}.

{4}  Here is a nice pair of milk paint chairs.  I wanted to point out that this person did not use a bonding agent, so as Marian mentions, milk paint will do its own distressing naturally.  You can see how each chair distressed in its own way --- one slightly more than the other.  Use a bonding agent if you are painting multiples or want to control the distressed look more.

{5}  Milk paint is eco-friendly and non-toxic, making it a great choice for any household.  Here is a nice application of yellow milk paint on kitchen cabinetry.

Please don't forget that we are having a Labor Day sale August 31st through September 3rd at The Old Lucketts Store and The Design House.  Both buildings are located at 42350 Lucketts Road in Leesburg, VA and are open 10am to 5pm during the sale.
Many items will be on sale, so check it out!

Have a great weekend everyone!
